Nokia 5800 Xpress Music phone launches

London and Singapore -- Nokia turned up the volume on its music offering today by unveiling the new Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, a mobile device for music that brings innovative new features to the mass market. Delivering on Nokia's vision to provide the best total music experience possible, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be among the first devices to support Comes With Music, Nokia's groundbreaking service which offers one year of unlimited access to the entire Nokia Music Store catalogue.

When it comes to music phones, people all over the world want a device that is a great music experience - with more memory, loud and powerful speakers, easy synchronization - and must still work well as a mobile phone with direct access to important contacts and content. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers on all counts and allows consumers to access and share content.

"With the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, we set out to connect people through the one thing we all feel a universal connection to - music," said Jo Harlow, Vice President, Nokia. "The way in which people enjoy music is different around the world. With that in mind, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic gives people the freedom to experience music they love in the way they prefer."

Media Bar, Contacts Bar - putting people first

Taking advantage of touch screen technology, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic introduces the 'Media Bar', a handy drop down menu that provides direct access to music and entertainment, including favourite tracks, videos and photos. The Media Bar also offers a direct link to the web and to online sharing. Because the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic supports Flash content, individuals can surf the entire web, not just pieces of it. In addition, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers all the music essentials, including a graphic equalizer, 8GB memory for up to 6000 tracks and support for all main digital music formats, and a 3.5mm jack. Built-in surround sound stereo speakers offer the industry's most powerful sound.

Ensuring a seamless music experience, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also provides easy access to browse and purchase tracks from the Nokia Music Store, where applicable, while the newly updated Nokia Music PC software allows for easy drag-and-drop transfer of songs and management of any music collection.

The innovative 'Contacts Bar' lets consumers highlight four favorite contacts on their home-screen and, through a single touch, track a digital history of recent text messages, emails, phone logs, photos and blog updates.

"As Nokia's first mass-market device with a touch screen, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic turns a 'user interface' into a 'human interface' by truly putting people first. For example, we've introduced the Nokia Contacts Bar, which is like a digital RSS feed on your life," said Harlow. "By adding the benefits of touch screen technology to S60, the world's leading smartphone interface, Nokia is taking the familiar and giving it a human touch. We have used touch technology where it really adds value such as the Contacts Bar, Media Bar and clever shortcuts from the homescreen to menu items such as calendar, profiles and clock."

For the best screen resolution available on a mobile phone, the 3.2" widescreen display brings photos, video clips and web content to life in vibrant color and true clarity. With a 16 by 9 aspect ratio and 30 frames-per-second playback and recording, the device is ideal for VGA quality video recording and playback.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and, with a single touch, images or videos can be shared via a favorite online community, such as Share on Ovi, Flickr, or Facebook. Music playlist song titles can also be shared through Bluetooth, MMS or online sharing.

Music for the masses

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic supports 60 languages worldwide, which covers nearly 90 percent of the world's population. As people around the world use their phones in different ways, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers a variety of input methods including a virtual alphanumeric keypad, a virtual computer-style QWERTY keyboard, a pen stylus -- and for true music enthusiasts, a plectrum -- are all available.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be available worldwide beginning in the fourth quarter of 2008 for an estimated retail price of 279 EUR before taxes and subsidies. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic featuring Comes With Music will be available early next year. Pricing details to follow.

Enhancing the experience, Nokia today unveiled four new music accessories including a new Bluetooth headset and three new stereo headsets.

AT&T will offer FamilyTalk plans, with bundled voice and unlimited data, starting as low as $129.99 a month for two iPhone 3G lines. Up to three additional iPhone lines can be added for $39.99 each.

Unlimited text messaging can be added for an additional $20 ($30 for FamilyTalk plans of up to five lines); $15 (1,500 messages), or $5 (200 messages).

Additional Tips for Consumers

New AT&T customers who wish to port or retain their phone number from another wireless carrier should consider bringing a copy of a bill from their current service provider. Customers will be asked to provide account information as it appears on record with their current provider, including:

-- Account number -- Name of the account holder -- Account holder's SSN or Tax ID -- Billing address -- PIN or password (if applicable)

Customers who inherit an original iPhone from a friend or family member will need to request a SIM card from AT&T for the phone and activate the device using the in-home activation process through iTunes.

Customers should listen to voice mail messages on their current devices and write down any necessary information before purchasing iPhone 3G, because existing voice mail messages will be lost when upgrading to iPhone's Visual Voicemail feature.

AT&T will offer accessory bundle options specific to iPhone 3G in its retail stores.

iPhone 2.0 Software

All iPhone customers will benefit from the iPhone 2.0 software, which will be pre-loaded on all iPhone 3Gs and available as a free download for current iPhone customers. The new software will include numerous enhancements, such as business-class e-mail access via Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync; the iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK), which allows a business to easily create applications customized to its needs; and the App Store, available at www.apple.com/webapps, which offers a wide-range of applications -- from games to business, education to entertainment and productivity to social networking.

For example, AT&T has developed YELLOWPAGES.COM Mobile for iPhone, which takes local mobile search to a new level by allowing users to discover businesses and local events based on their popularity among other iPhone users, get directions and access business reviews. Numerous enterprise applications are and will continue to be available on iPhone 3G, via the App Store, including Oracle's CRM, collaboration and e-mail applications.

iPhone for Business

Oracle and Kraft Foods Inc. are among the first business customers to deploy iPhone 3G. Business customers interested in iPhone 3G should contact an AT&T business sales representative or review their account information online to determine their eligibility for upgrade pricing. Corporate e-mail and other business applications require the Enterprise Data Plan for iPhone, which is $45 a month and bundled with an eligible voice plan. Small business customers may qualify for AT&T BusinessTalk, the industry's only shared plan specifically for small businesses. Additional details on iPhone business offerings are available at www.att.com/iphoneforbusiness.

* iPhone 3G is available to customers who are currently prepaid customers; however, there is no prepaid plan for iPhone 3G. Additionally, customers' accounts must be in good standing at the time of purchase.

Seoul -- Samsung reinforces its technology leadership by launching the world's first 10 megapixel mobile phone (model: SCH-B600) in Korean market.

Samsung reached another milestone in camera phones by launching 10 megapixel camera phone, which was unveiled at CeBIT in March this year. Samsung's 10 megapixel camera phone (SCH-B600) is 6mm thinner and 10g lighter than the 7 megapixel camera phone (SCH-V770) and sets itself apart from its previous megapixel camera phones by combining mobile TV capability in Satellite standard.

The B600 offers the same level of picture-taking sophistication that a 10 megapixel digital camera offers. The camera function includes 3x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom. It also has auto focus and a flash unit that performs optimally for 10 megapixel photographs.

Also, the B600 comes fitted with a LED autofocus feature which assists users to capture clear, crisp photos even in dark settings. Located next to the lens, the LED autofocus automatically determines the distance and utilizes the appropriate focus setting for optimal photo shooting.

The B600 also supports white balance, manual focus, continuous picture-taking, and interval picture-taking functions.

It also supports Bluetooth which enables users to send pictures wirelessly to other mobile phones, printers or to Bluetooth headsets.

The high color Reproduction TFT-LCD produces the highest possible display for its size. The photo-fine chromic LCD can reproduce 16 million colors, virtually any color found in nature, earning it the "True Color" appellation. Moving pictures can be recorded in QVGA resolution at 15-30 frames per second. Users can watch live TV in crisp picture through Satellite DMB function.

It also supports external memory (MMCmicro) in addition to its internal memory. The mobile phone supports a TV-out function where users can connect their phones to view still or motion pictures.

The B600 comes with a design reminiscent of a real digital camera. The front is designed as a bar-type mobile phone, while the back side is used as the digital camera.

Other advanced functions in the B600 include an MP3 player, business card reader, and 128 polyphonic sounds.

The price of B600 is around 900,000 won (about $ 900) in Korea.

Thin is in - the new Nokia 6126

CTIA., Las Vegas -- Today, Nokia unveils the quad-band (GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900) Nokia 6126 phone. Featuring a graceful tapered design that averages a mere 17mm (.67 inches) from top to bottom, it still manages to deliver a wide range of the most desired mobile features which are easily accessible via Nokia's hallmark intuitive user interface. The Nokia 6126 phone is expected to be available in North American markets during the 2nd quarter of 2006.

Design:

Along with its slim, tapered profile - the Nokia 6126 phone is also just 48mm (1.9 inches) wide and weighs in at a featherweight 112 grams (3.9 ounces). While these compact dimensions make the Nokia 6126 phone easy to pick up, the luxurious soft-touch finish makes it equally hard to put down. Besides the soft-touch black finish, the Nokia 6126 phone can also be found in silver with white, beige or red accents.

For an added touch of fun and convenience, the Nokia 6126 phone also integrates a push-to-open button into its design. Located at the edge of the hinge, the button, when depressed, allows the phone to automatically glide into the open position. This not only makes for convenient one-handed operation, but satisfies the desire to create a level of 'phone envy' among friends.

Features:

The Nokia 6126 phone includes a digital music player that supports a variety of formats including MP3, AAC, AAC+ and eAAC+. With an optional 1 GB microSD card, approximately 1,000 songs can be stored on the hot-swappable memory card and enjoyed using an optional wired stereo headset, or for the ultimate in convenience, through an optional wireless stereo headset using Bluetooth technology.

Quad-band GSM/EDGE technology allows the Nokia 6126 phone to be used on virtually all GSM systems around the world (subject to operator roaming agreements), while Nokia's industry benchmark RF engineering maximizes performance to get the most out of these global networks.

The integrated 1.3 megapixel camera includes 8x digital zoom and a full screen portrait mode viewfinder that lets users see exactly what they are capturing. In video mode, the Nokia 6126 can capture video clips that can be saved, sent, or used as video ring tones on both the internal and external displays. Additional features include streaming audio and video support, built-in 3D games, including a 3D version of the classic 'Snake' game, local and remote synchronization of contact, calendar and to-do lists and enhanced voice features including speaker-independent name dialing.

Ease-of-use

The Nokia 6126 phone implements the all-new third edition of Nokia's popular Series 40 user interface. This user interface builds upon the intuitive menu structure that has made Nokia Series 40-based handsets perennial best-sellers around the world. It also adds 'Active Standby Mode', which allows the idle screen to keep owners informed of calendar and to-do items and to provide quick access to the most-used applications.

To make this powerful functionality easily accessible, the Nokia 6126 phone includes the latest in human interface technology. The main display features an ultra-crisp 2.2 inch 16.7 million True Color TFT 320 x 240 pixel QVGA display to make icons, text and images incredibly sharp and true-to-life. The external display is a full 262,000 color 128 x 160 pixel screen - which delivers even higher quality output than the main display found on many phone models. For fast, accurate data entry, the Nokia 6126 phone employs a unique dual level keypad that uses a raised area on each key which allows for the largest possible key size, yet still delivers a natural space between keys for a positive tactile response.
